I Just Realised...

14 Syawal 1433H

Looking inside our little house, I have just realised that I have the tendency to choose the same red with white square pattern over and over again...

              my work station

 our dining table

curtain in the kitchen

pot holder

Actually, the list could go on and on.... I still have a few remnants in different sizes, with the much alike pattern in my 'reserve' for my future projects... ooo God knows what...

But then again, just looking at these things make me realise even more that they do in fact look beautiful in this pattern! :)

You Are What You Eat

6 Syawal 1433H

I always have a very good appetite when it comes to eating. It scares me a lot now as I keep on gaining weight... unproportionately :)... well, you are what you eat!
Of course, I am thankful to Allah for granting me the good appetite... the problem now is me... how to manage this...

I am trying really hard now to keep on a healthy diet. I have started really seriously during Ramadhan and I have got some positive outcomes. But, I just couldn't help myself from having these amazing Raya dishes during this festive season. Anyway, I did manage to minimise the intake. I hope so :)..

We had a few dishes made especially for Raya a few days back...

And we had my very own fried udon for lunch today...

Selamat Hari Raya!

2 Syawal 1433H

Alhamdulillah. Finally, Raya is 'over'.. at least here.
One of the best things for Raya is the Takbir Raya itself. And the one by Alllahyarham Ustaz Asri I think is the best, among the best!

Was on skype with Mom and peps back home at Raya night, which is the best time of Raya for me.
We went to the Embassy for Raya Prayer in the morning and then to a few houses for 'food hunting'.
We also have some guests coming to our place. I really love these Raya traditions.

And it left our little house in another addition of a mess. I was so tired preparing for Raya that I have to create a special store room to make those messes invisible... but I know, sooner or later I will have to unveil them all...

We are now back on track continuing with our work for home making, home decorating... hopefully, literally!

The Wall Thing

27 Ramadhan 1433H

Its already 27 Ramadhan!
Alhamdulillah... time flies really fast now. Eid, or as we call it in Malay, Hari Raya Aidilfitri is just around the corner! And our little house is still very messy. Obviously not in the state to celebrate Raya as yet. Ooo we really have to catch-up with the time now.

I would like to share yet another type of my collection for our little house. Its just some nature artwork (I hope!) for the the wall. Hopefully, it will turned up to be the way I wanted.

This is my first attempt actually to do this kind of artwork. I collected dried leaves and I wanted to frame them, and finally up to the wall they go. God willing!

What colour is your home?

25 Ramadhan 1433H

One of the things to be considered for a new home is the colours of interior/exterior paintings.

I did some search on the internet to get some info about this as I have once heard of the effect of colours on our mood or the psychological effect of colours.

Though I am not a firm believer of this, I do find some of the info interesting. In any case, different people tend to like different colours. So, I guess it is somehow associated with some kind of psychological preference.

Our little house is made up of areas just like any other houses, with living room, dining area, kitchen and bedrooms... but thinking of colours to be applied to these areas to make the house more welcoming is really quite something...

There are a number of studies done on the effect of colours on our mood and some even suggested colours for the areas in a house, like this one:

Living room and foyer. Warm tones like reds, yellows, and oranges, and earth tones like brown and beige often work well in both the living room and foyer, because they're thought to stimulate conversation.

Kitchen. Reds and yellows can be great colors in the kitchen as well as in the living room and foyer. But watch out if you're watching your weight: in addition to stimulating conversation, red may prompt you to eat more, if only subtly. If you're on a diet, you might want to keep red out of the kitchen .

Dining room. Because it's stimulating, red decor can be great for a formal dining room. In addition to encouraging conversation, it whets the appetites of your guests.

Bedroom. The bedroom is where you go to relax and reconnect with your partner.  Cool colors -- blues, greens and lavenders -- can be great choices here, because they are thought to have a calming effect.

Bathroom. Whites and warm colors have always been popular choices for bathrooms, in large part because they connote cleanliness and purity.

Workout room. Yellow-greens and blue-greens may be the best choices because, in terms of color psychology, they're "happier."

Home office. Green can be a great choice for a home office. Green is the color of concentration,. It's one of the best colors to be surrounded by for long periods of time.

Pets

24 Ramadhan 1433H

I am an animal lover, especially cats. I think they are one of the cutest creatures on earth
Looking at the neighbours' pets here, I do hope I can have cats in our little house as our pets... but things as it is now simply do not allow me to do so...

We used to have lots and lots of cats at my parents' house. I really missed having cats around me
Now, my only option is to 'peek' at other peoples' cats - those I met in parks or at the street... These are the ones I met at one of the parks here. They are sooooo adorable!

The Neighbours

23 Ramadhan 1433H

Our little house now is surrounded with great neighbourhood. There is a small river at the back of the house, with trees lined up along the river.

Apart from the greenery in the area, the people here have a rather interesting companions in their live which makes the area lively.

This is one of their companions, which happen to be one of my closest neighbours... and I enjoy every bit of the view by having them around!
